Black Gold

Today we topped off many of the raised beds with a composted soil purchased from our local landscaping supply business. It's black and rich looking, and has the subtle odor of manure. Expecting good things from this addition!
I'm taking a chance and using up seeds that I have accumulated over the past several years. They look good. Hope they germinate. If not, I'll try again.

Planted three rows of beets. Two varieties, both round and red:
Red Ace (Johnny's Select Seeds)
Merlin (Johnny's Select Seeds)

One row lettuce:
Green Romaine, Coastal Star (Johnny's Select Seeds)
Black Seeded Simpson (Grow Organic)

One row kale:
Dwarf blue curled Scotch (misc seed pack)

One row cilantro (misc seed pack)

One row salad turnips:
Scarlet Queen Red Stems (Johnny's Select Seeds)

Topping off the bed of garlic with composted soil
